Corrosion inhibitor-bactericide NAPOR-1004 Brand B

Purpose and scope of application

NAPOR-1004 Brand B
NAPOR-1004 is a water-soluble cationic surfactant. The reagent is designed to inhibit the growth of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and to protect metal against corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement during oil and gas extraction, oil transportation, and the disposal of wastewater containing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. To effectively protect oilfield equipment and gas pipelines from chemical corrosion, the product is applied via continuous dosing into oil-water emulsions or periodic dosing into production wells. When dosed into oil gathering systems at concentrations of 15–30 g/m³, NAPOR-1004 can significantly reduce the viscosity of oil-water emulsions (by up to 85%) and, consequently, lower in-pipe pressure during oil transportation. NAPOR-1004 is highly effective against both general and localized corrosion, preventing pitting. It is also used as an additive in fluids intended for well preservation and kill operations during workovers, helping to minimize the adverse effects of brines on the reservoir properties of the producing formation.

To suppress SRB populations, periodic shock treatments are employed at concentrations ranging from 50 to 200 g/m³, depending on the level of contamination and the resistance of the SRB culture. The product does not negatively affect oil refining processes or the quality of the commercial crude oil produced. It exhibits synergistic effects with many demulsifiers. The reagent's high effectiveness has been confirmed by findings from leading institutes—including VNIIGaz—and companies such as Hoechst, Statoil, and Nalco-Exxon, as well as by results from long-term industrial use at facilities in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Komi, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

NAPOR-1004 is recommended by the industry institute VNIIGaz as a promising inhibitor of corrosion and metal hydrogen embrittlement in high-hydrogen-sulfide environments, and as an antifoaming agent at concentrations of 30–50 g/m³. At a concentration of 100 g/m³, it completely eliminates foam during gas purification.

Additionally, it is used in other industrial sectors—for example, in the leather and footwear industry—to treat leather goods and prevent surface mold growth.

FAQ

For what tasks is the NAPOR-1004-B used?
For continuous dosing into the oil gathering system, the concentration is 15–30 g/m³. Shock treatments in the range of 50–200 g/m³ are used to suppress the SRB biocenosis, depending on the facility's contamination level. A protective effect of at least 90% is achieved at a dosage of 20 mg/dm³ in a standard hydrogen sulfide-containing medium.
What dosage range is used in the field?
The reagent is designed to inhibit sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and protect equipment against corrosion and metal hydrogen embrittlement in oil and gas production and transportation systems, as well as during the disposal of hydrogen sulfide-containing wastewater.
The reagent does not adversely affect oil refining processes or the quality of commercial oil. It is supplied in metal and polyethylene drums, as well as in rail and road tankers.
Does NAPOR-1004-B affect oil treatment and oil quality?
When dosed into an oil gathering system, it can reduce the viscosity of water-in-oil emulsions (by up to 85%), thereby helping to lower in-pipe pressure during transport. It exhibits a synergistic effect with a number of demulsifiers.
Does the product offer additional technological effects?
